Position Overview
  • As a Direct Support Professional (DSP) at United Community Supports of Maryland, you will play a crucial role in providing personalized care and support to individuals with intellectual and developmental disabilities. This rewarding position involves assisting our clients in their daily activities, fostering community engagement, and promoting independence.

Responsibilities
  • Provide direct care and support to individuals with disabilities in their homes or community settings.
  • Assist with daily living activities, including personal hygiene, meal preparation, and academic support.
  • Foster a positive and inclusive environment that encourages socialization and community integration.
  • Implement individualized care plans and support goals to enhance the quality of life for each individual.
  • Document and maintain accurate records of daily activities, progress, and any incidents or seizures.

Qualifications
  • High school diploma or equivalent; additional education in human services or related field is a plus.
  • Previous experience working with individuals with intellectual and developmental disabilities preferred.
  • Must be at least 18 years of age or older.
  • Must have all Covid vaccinations and agree to wear an N95 mask 100% of service time.
  • Must have a clean background (background checks are a requirement)
  • Must have reliable transportation.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to adapt to varying needs and preferences of individuals.
  • Compassion, patience, and a genuine desire to make a positive impact.
